Whether you’re looking for medical treatment to cure a disease, or to improve your appearance, picking the right doctor is a critical decision. The doctor you choose is someone you’re trusting with your health, safety, and well-being. So how do people go about making that important of decision? The best thing you can do is educate yourself about the doctor you’re considering.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Hooman – a bariatric and vein specialist at West Medical. From his education to his bedside manner, here’s what potential patients should know about Dr. Hooman.
Education
Doctors often spend more years in school than any other professionals. The importance is not just in the amount of schooling they have, but in the quality of that education too. Dr. Hooman graduated from UCLA with summa cum laude honors. “Summa cum laude” is the highest level of honors available, often awarded to just the top 5% of a graduating class. This distinction reflects Dr. Hooman’s early commitment to excellence in his education. He then earned both his Master’s and Medical degrees from the Chicago Medical School, and became an MD.
Further Training
Once doctors earn their medical degree, they officially have the MD title you see after their names. However, the training a doctor chooses to do after earning their MD is even more specialized and important to their abilities to treat patients. After Dr. Hooman earned his MD, he began his surgical training at Cornell University associated Lincoln Medical Center in New York and at some of the most respected institutions in the country. Choosing to pursue a Fellowship, the final step in advanced surgical training, Dr. Hooman then returned to California and did a Fellowship in Los Angeles. This is where he became a specialized surgeon.
Specialty
During training, doctors pick their specialties. When Dr. Hooman performed his first bariatric (weight loss) surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, he knew he wanted to dedicate his career to helping people lose substantial weight with surgical and non-surgical treatments like the gastric balloon. Additionally, since Dr. Hooman is certified in minimally invasive surgery, he chose to focus on varicose vein treatments as well. Today Dr. Hooman is a Board-Certified Surgeon and a member of the American College of Surgeons.
Beyond Training
Once you know a doctor’s education, further training, and specialty align with your standards for care, there’s an important question left: Is this a doctor I feel comfortable with? Medical diagnoses and treatments are not about an expert telling you what to do. They are about a building a trusting, beneficial relationship with the doctor who can help you feel educated, safe, and empowered in your healthcare.
Dr. Hooman provides this assurance and care to his patients. From the first consultation to your procedure day and beyond, Dr. Hooman takes every step to make sure you feel confident and secure. He provides each patient with his personal cellphone number so they know they will receive the highest level of access and healthcare possible.
Dr. Hooman would be happy to meet with you, discuss your health goals, and figure out a path to success. If you would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hooman, please call our offices at (855) 690-0565.
