Healthy Recipe: Marinated Flank Steak

We would like to share one of our favorite recipes from The Heart Healthy Cookbook: Marinated Flank Steak. This simple recipe is especially filling and perfect for the high protein and low carb lifestyle! Enjoy and stay within a healthy portion size!

Marinated Flank Steak

Get:

  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vermouth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons unseasoned meat tenderizer (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 piece of fresh gingerroot, thinly sliced
  • 2 pounds flank steak, all visible fat removed

Steps:

  • Combine soy sauce, vermouth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, meat tenderizer, if using, garlic, and gingerroot
  • Arrange flank steak in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch glass casserole
  • Pour sauce over top; cover with plastic wrap
  • Marinate in refrigerator for 2 to 24 hours
  • Drain marinade
  • Grill over hot coals for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness.
  • Remove to a cutting board
  • Slice on the diagonal
