Donna is a wife and the mother of five kids, of which four are grown and out of the house. She was always a small framed person. When she had her children she was very young and always bounced back to a reasonable weight. At the age of 27 she quit smoking after having been a smoker for 16 years. As a substitute, Donna began eating everything and anything and within about seven years, she was about 40lbs over weight.
MOMENT OF CHANGE
There were many ideas out there for her to lose weight and, trust, she tried many of them. Donna began trying about 10 years ago and tried the Atkins Diet. It worked for several months and she successfully lost about 25 lbs, but gradually began to regain the weight again after about a year. Later on, she began to monitor what kind of food and how much of it she ate. Donna had a pretty good idea of what was healthy as well as what were essential supplements and such. She added exercise and other things, too, but nothing would allow her to lose enough weight to feel good and healthy. About five years ago, the newest program was the Phentermine/B12 shot, and she began to use the diet pills with a healthy eating regimen. It was very successful, but also expensive. She lost quite a bit of weight and was happy – for the time being. The problem was that when Donna decided not to continue to buy the tablets, she began to gain the weight again. Donna then developed sleep apnea and the trouble with her knees and back was getting worse because of the extra weight. When Donna was in lots of pain and couldn’t sleep well anymore, she began searching for a permanent solution, which she soon found out was weight loss surgery.
REWARDS OF A NEW LIFE
For Donna, the best part of having the surgery is having to rethink her meal size and knowing that she can be satisfied with such small portions. “I can still eat just about anything I want just smaller portions. I fit into clothes that I hadn’t been able to wear in many years. My general health has improved drastically and I am very happy to say 50 feels like the new 30!” Truly, these were the long-lasting benefits Donna was looking for all along. With successful weight loss surgery, her search was now over.
