As busy as everyone can get during the holidays, trust that there’s always room to sneak in a quick workout or to incorporate some sort of exercise. Below are a few tips and exercises you can quickly incorporate and do for a healthy, happy, and active holiday season.
CONDENSED BUT INTENSE: Whether you’re travelling or at home, the key to making effective use of your fitness time is to condense your regular routine, but increase the intensity of it. Great examples of this would be circuit training or HIIT (high intensity interval training) routines.
FAMILY EXERCISE OUTINGS: Try gathering the whole family together this season for some physical activity. You can do so by going to an area in your neighborhood with the best Christmas house lighting and take a walk around to see all of the lights and festivities. Also, make shopping trips more fitness friendly by parking farther and planning a route that lets you visit all of the stores you want in a way that extends your travel and walking time.
BRING TRAVEL FRIENDLY EXERCISE GEAR: When traveling, make sure to bring some resistance bands, comfortable workout shoes or other simple workout gear to encourage you to exercise on your trip.
REST AND RELAX: It’s important to not overdo your exercise. With all the holiday planning and activities, having balance with your fitness plans is also key. Rest up and relax. Enjoy your company and time with family as well!
